UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY(UPS)

Modern Age Technologies celebrated its 20th year anniversary in June 2010. The company has been in the field of providing quality power to its clients since 1990. The company is 100% Ghanaian owned and operated.

During the early stages of the company’s operations, Modern Age Technologies used locally available parts and locally trained technicians to assemble its own brand of UPS called MAT UPS.

This operation was started with a working capital of only $2,000.

Sizes of locally assembled UPS ranged from 500VA to 5000VA. Within three years of local UPS manufacture, Modern Age Technologies had produced close to 400 units of the local brand of UPS.

The special attractive feature of the locally manufactured UPS by Modern Age Technologies was its backup time. The standard back up time, at 100% load, of the MAT UPS was 2 hours, as compared to 10 minutes of standard backup time, 100% load, obtained from foreign UPS of comparable sizes. MAT UPS was rugged and durable, manufactured exclusively by Ghanaian engineers.

Local UPS manufacturing project at Modern Age Technologies, produced many local talents in the field of electronics and UPS technology. Several enterprising Ghanaian engineers grew out of Modern Age Technologies' workshop and set up their own operations, in many cases, under the tutelage of Modern Age Technologies.

Within a few years of operations, Modern Age Technologies became the largest producer of local UPS and had trained more than 65 engineers. Several of Ghana's major companies were among the clients of Modern Age Technologies.

Subsequent to this phase of the company’s operations, Modern Age Technologies accepted an offer from Merlin Gerin of France, a world leader in UPS manufacturing, in 1995, to represent MGE UPS SYSTEMS in Ghana. Due to diligent and honest representation of MGE UPS SYSTEMS in Ghana, Modern Age Technologies became the official Technical Support Center for MGE UPS SYSTEMS in Ghana in the year 2000.

After more than a decade of representing MGE UPS SYSTEMS, the company is currently the Technical support Center for APC by Schneider Electric in Ghana. This happened after MGE UPS SYSTEMS acquired APC and changed the name to APC by Schneider Electric.

Currently Modern Age Technologies is Ghana's leading technical support provider of power protection systems. This is the current status of a company that started about 21 years ago with only $2,000.
